Whether you are delivering a 30-second intro or a keynote, join this four session class to become a magnet in front of a room!
Four Thursdays beginning May 21 through June 18
Uncover your brilliance and shine! In this class we will work with you to develop your confidence, ease, and mastery of speaking in front of groups. All sessions will be taught using our unique, irreverent mix of experiential (Improv) learning, individual coaching, and group feedback. Sessions include:
Be Your Real Self, Already! Ever feel held back in your speaking, like you want to show more of your passion and emotion but you're not sure it's okay? Liberate yourself from the rules you're "supposed to" follow so you can be your real self in front of any audience. Gesture, say "um," get over your PowerPoint and just relate to the audience.
Listen Like a Wolf The best speakers are intense listeners! Listening shows you what to say next to hold someone's attention and interest. Learn the secrets to listening and being in the moment through Improv and apply them to your work. Become a magnet for truly engaged conversations that touch, move, and inspire your audiences to action.
Oh the Stories You'll Tell! Telling a captivating story that resonates for the audience is a learned skill. Tie that story to a lesson or skill can lead them to the a-ha moment you're dying for them to have. Learn to draw out and structure your stories - it's a powerful tool to become an engaging speaker. Sharing more of WHO you are differentiates you from everyone else.
Plan to be Spontaneous (say what?) Know your content cold so that you can be nimble enough to turn change to your advantage. Develop more confidence to be in the moment and give your audience what it needs to hear. Bonus: this will help you become courageous and shine even when everything about the gig goes whacky!
Features of the sessions:
- Videotaping of before and after presentations for each participant
- Group work, individualized coaching, and a fun, highly supportive environment (with snacks)
- Opportunities to be very silly, very sincere, and highly impactful
We will meet on Thursday evenings for four consecutive weeks, from 6-8:30 PM in Rocky Hill, at offices of the CT Association of Foster & Adoptive Parents, 2189 Silas Deane Highway. The dates of the classes are:May 28,June 4, June 11, June 18 (with graduation ceremony to follow in the bar at Chuck's Steak House)
Note: There will be informal networking after every session at Chucks - we're building a tribe of authentic, engaging speakers to rock the world and eliminate boring, officious behavior from the podium
